May 17 - 21, 2017 American Orchid Society Spring Meeting
Dear American Orchid Society members,
We hope that you are making plans to join us at the 2017 Spring Members Meeting. The event is fast approaching! As you undoubtedly know by now, the meeting will be held in conjunction with the 21st Redland International Orchid Festival. All information and details can be found here: https://aosmembersmeeting.com/
What can you anticipate at this Spring Meeting? With your full registration, you can look forward to:
Fabulous preview event. Enjoy unprecedented vendor access and pre-sales at the Redland International Orchid Festival and a catered dinner on site.
"Orchids through the Artists' Eyes." This one-of-a-kind, beautifully curated collection of orchid art will impress and delight. Do not miss it.
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Considered one of the best gardens in the world, it has been the home of the AOS since 2012. There is so much to see and do that we set aside a full day to enjoy it!
The American Orchid Society Library Collection. One of the premier orchid librariesanywhere. Visit, peruse, enjoy.
While at the Redland International Orchid festival, you will have access to our exclusive air-conditioned tent. This perk will offer a welcome respite from the heat and shopping! Within the tent, you will find water and snacks, a lounge area, and for your convenience, a plant hotel. It will also house our speakers—meet and interact, roundtable-style, with experts from Brazil, Colombia, South Africa, the United States and more. Topics will vary based on questions and interactive feedback, but you can count on discussions about an exciting and long-term bifoliate cattleya project, the elusive and beautiful ghost orchid (Dendrophylax lindenii) and orchid travel around the world just to name a few.
Do you want to know what is happening in the AOS? Please join us at the Town Hall meeting on Saturday, May 20, at 10:00 AM during "Fairchild Day." National award winners will be recognized, judging elevations will be announced, special awards will be presented and more. All of this will occur in addition to our semi-annual committee and Board of Trustees meetings and our lively semi-annual fundraising auction, which all members are welcome to attend.
If you have any questions or suggestions, we'd love to hear them! For your convenience, we have included a "Contact Us" section on the members meeting website. You can also email us atTheAOS@aos.org. President George Hatfield, the Board of Trustees and the AOS staff look forward to welcoming you to this Southern Florida hospitality-filled unique event.
