For those people who won’t be at the meeting, you can still view the presentation on your phone, PC or Mac, or other web searching devices.
For those joining by phone in order to just listen & watch without being on camera, be sure you dial the appropriate phone number for your area of the country ~ for us, that would be the New York number.
The voice prompts will ask you to just dial or type in all the appropriate information for the meeting. If you already have Zoom on your computer, it will connect you as soon as you give your Password.
The way to join a Zoom meeting is fairly straightforward, although for the first time it can be a little confusing. If you’re having trouble, you might want to call another member & have them help you get connected.
To Join a Zoom Meeting:
1 ~ To join, literally click on the link above at the time specified for the meeting! Or, if you prefer, you can copy the link and paste it into the address bar of your preferred browser.
2 ~ What is going to happen after you click the link is, if you don’t already have Zoom, it will ask if you want to download the appropriate version, to which you should reply Yes.
3 ~ It will then walk you through the process of installing Zoom, after which the meeting should open.
If Zoom doesn’t open:
1 ~ close the Zoom app.
2 ~ Next, click on the link in the email again. This should take you to the meeting.
If you won’t want to download Zoom:
1 ~ you can go to zoom.us and join a meeting, though this will take a little more effort.
2 ~ You will have to copy the meeting ID number, Passcode (if any) & Password and paste that into the appropriate box.
If you’re new to Zoom, there are options you can change at any time once you are in the meeting.
These include having your camera on or off (your camera is likely on when you join so don’t forget that people will be able to see you), viewing the chats via the icon at the bottom of the Zoom screen ~ these are chats for everyone on the Zoom call, or it can be private.
If you don’t use your camera, your username will appear instead of an image. You can change your display name, but I can’t recall how right now.
You will be given a few options for audio, by either selecting audio via your computer audio or by calling in with a telephone.
Your microphone may or may not be on. If your microphone is on, please mute it by clicking on the microphone icon at the left of the bottom bar so there’s a red slash across it. There’s a chance everyone will be muted upon entering the meeting.
If your microphone is not muted, we all will hear everything you’re saying or maybe what you’re doing (especially if it’s noisy).
If something isn’t working properly (and this can happen), just click the “Leave the Meeting” icon at the bottom right hand corner of the screen bar & then re-enter the meeting via your preferred method. For example, often the camera doesn’t recognize the program properly & by leaving & rejoining the meeting, it finally connects & you’re able to be seen by everyone.
You can always personalize Zoom, but you may not want to do it during the meeting. But who am I to tell you what to do? If you get bored, heck, do what you want!
There may be an opportunity to show off your plants during the meeting. You’ll have to have your camera on (of course)…
